چکیده

Abstract To investigate the corrosion behavior of WC–Co composite coating, plasma transferred arc (PTA) welding was applied to prepare coating on hull steel EH40 for achieving good metallurgical bonding. The phases coatings were mainly composed WC particles, solid solution γ-Co, Fe 3 Ni 2 , SiO and Mo C. After electrochemical test, it can be concluded that Co-based with 45% content has better resistance in low temperature marine environment obtaining denser oxide film. Through X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, main products immersion Co(OH) Co O 4 . These aggregate form a stable product film, which plays some protective role coating. Hard particle is also partially oxidized WO pitting hole 60% most serious. Pitting easy occur at interface defects.

EFFECT OF HIGH TEMPERATURE OXIDATION ON THE CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF ALUMINIZED LOW CARBON STEEL IN MOLTEN ALUMINUM

Hot dip aluminizing was carried out on the low carbon steel rod under optimized conditions. The aluminized samples were further oxidized at 1000̊C in air atmosphere at two different times of 20 and 60 minutes. Microstructure study and phase analysis were studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods, respectively. The characterization of the coating showed that, Fe2...

Corrosion of Cold Spray Deposited Copper Coating on Steel Substrates

The corrosion behavior of copper cold spray coatings on a carbon steel substrate was compared to that of commercially available wrought copper under the conditions anticipated in a nuclear waste repository. Corrosion potential and linear polarization resistance measurements were conducted over 90 d to 120 d in 3.0 mol/L NaCl under anoxic (1) and oxygenated-toanoxic (2) conditions to simulate th...

Effect of coating time on the corrosion behavior of ceramic coatings containing hydroxyapatite nanoparticles by plasma electrolytic oxidation method on AZ31 Mg alloy in simulated body fluid

In this study, the effect of coating time on the microstructure and corrosion behavior of AZ31 Mg alloy coated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) method has been investigated. For this purpose, phosphate-based electrolyte containing hydroxyapatite nanoparticles was used at different times of 5, 10 and 15 minutes. The surface properties and chemical composition of the coatings were investiga...

Corrosion Behavior of X80 Steel with Coupled Coating Defects under Alternating Current Interference in Alkaline Environment

The corrosion behavior of X80 steel in the presence of coupled coating defects was simulated and studied under the interference of alternating current (AC) in an alkaline environment. The results from electrochemical measurements showed that the electrode potential of the coating defect with the smaller exposed area was lower than that with the larger area, which indicated that the steel with t...
